Make sure you have the right SEND documents made available.

The Children and Families Act 2014 sets out documents that educational settings should have in place.  Below is information on what SEND documentation you must make available.

Maintained Schools (including Special Schools), Nurseries and Academies (including Free Schools)

SEN Information Reports

The requirement for SEN Information Reports comes from section 69(2) of the Children and Families Act 2014 and regulation 51 and schedule 1 of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.  Find out more about SEN Information Reports.

Your SEN Information Report must be reviewed annually and updated if there are changes to the information  during the year.

Accessibility Plans

The requirement for Accessibility Plans comes from  paragraph 3 of schedule 10 of the Equality Act 2010.  Your Accessibility Plans should link to Bristol's Access Strategy. Find out more about Assessibility Plans.

Read Bristol City Council's Accessibility Strategy 2017-19.

Download the Access Plan template.

Your Accessibility Plans should be reviewed every 3 years.

You could have a combined SEN Information Report and SEN Policy but we are asking that you keep these documents seperate.  This is based on feedback from parents and carers who said combined documents were not easy to understand.  Find out more about SEN Policies.
