Get listed on Findability Bristol

If you are a Bristol based organisation working with or running events and activities with disabled children and their families, then you can be listed on Findability. A listing on our web site means thousands of people in Bristol can find out about you and the work that you do, how you can help them and how to attend events you are organising.

To be featured on Findability you need to be registered on an external directory - 1 Big Database.

What is 1 Big Database?
1 Big Database is a project managed in part by Bristol City Council that provides details of organisations throughout the West of England. 1 Big Database has been running since 2004.

Why can't I register on Findability?
All entries on 1 Big Database are managed proactively by the Family Information teams at a number of local authorities. Organisations on 1 Big Database are checked on a regular basis and are encouraged to provide up-to-date details about themselves and the services they are offering. This means that sites such as Findability can use the information from 1 Big Database reassured that the data is managed correctly and in line with policy set down from central government. That's why you need to register on 1 Big Database to be part of Findability.

What information will I need to provide?
We encourage you to provide as much information as you can in order for this directory to be as useful as possible to families with disabled children in Bristol. As well as basic information such as contact details, the services / activities that you offer, we encourage you to take time to select the Disability-related questions - such as: the facilities you have for disabled people 'on site'; how easy it is to travel to your site; and more specific options that describe the work you are involved in e.g. SEN, inclusion, short breaks, special units etc.

You will find these options if you tick the 'Disability' box under the 'Parenting and Family Support' and/or 'Community and Living' categories - if you tick one/both of these boxes, and 'Proceed to stage 1b', you will presented with a detailed list of selectable disability options. Please complete these carefully - this crucial information will help us to bring truly relevant information to the people using Findability.

Will my details be published immediately?
In line with policy all submissions are manually verified prior to publication. If there are any problems with the data you enter the team will be in touch. Your information may appear on 1BD before it appears on Findability.
