About the Organisation
Bristol Cathedral Choir School welcomes boys and girls aged 11-18 from all backgrounds and of all abilities, providing them with an excellent all-round education. In September 2008, BCCS became an Academy: the first choir school in the country to do so. This meant the School ceased charging fees to parents. As an Academy, we have the flexibility to meet the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century and to make our contribution to a changing educational environment both within the city of Bristol and nationally.
We are currently Bristol’s most over-subscribed secondary school: numbers are growing fast, from around 450 in early 2009 to a projected roll of 700+ in the future, including a Sixth Form of 160. A major programme to provide new buildings and refurbish much of our existing city centre campus is well underway. Our extensive playing fields and modern pavilion at Failand provide ample space for winter and summer games.
