About the Organisation
Two Way Street is a social firm who works with inpatients with acute mental health problems and are in the process of developing relationships with regional secure services. The Black African Community is over represented in secondary mental health services and under represented in primary care. This organisation aims to reduce the numbers of people from the Black African Caribbean community being detained in hospital unnecessarily, to increase their attendance in primary care ensuring that all care is offered and sensitive to the needs of individuals and cultural mannerism are not misread as symptom of mental illness. The Two Way Street also provides a series of training courses for mental health service users, carers and providers.
