Cabot's Shipwright
About the Organisation

At present working with My Future My Choice to raise the aspirations of learning/transitional pupils with project based cardboard boat making workshops focussing on team work with volunteers; enjoyment and public display. The boats float and sail.
Also as an ex-shipwright to the 'Matthew' I demonstrate medieval shipbuilding and the building of the modern version. I tell how Bristolians were the first to find mainland America and how they 'helped' John Cabot discover the 'Newe Founde Lande'. Also workshops of how ships were navigated across the Atlantic using the sun and stars. With hands-on activities, slides, navigation tools for the medieval sailor, an exploration of where we are on the globe. All workshops with models and plans; exciting presentations for Key Stage 2 pupils about Bristol's Tudor explorers, their ships and voyages and the Bristol shipbuilders.
