We are pleased to announce further progress on the review of the Sensory Support Service for Children and Young People, across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.
The headlines are that we are now planning to start the new service from 1st January 2020, and that we are running three online surveys to seek your views from the 11th June 2018.

An update on Bristol Autism Project for members
The council runs a valued service for children with autism and their families that organises events during school holidays for these children to enjoy. Unfortunately our provider who has helped to run these events for several years has recently withdrawn from the project.

In March 2017 the DfE announced capital funding for all Local Authorities to support children and young people with special educational needs. Capital funding is money that can be used to provide more places, better spaces and buy equipment that will support curriculum access. Bristol has an allocation of just over £2.5m over 3 years.

Bristol has published our new direction for meeting the needs of children and young people with social communication and interaction needs (SCIN). Our intentions for future services have been co-produced with our parent carer support organisations and you can read our new leaflet here.
